The Professional Bug Hunter VS80 is an advanced RF and magnetic detector for hidden cameras, audio bugs and GPS trackers, designed for thorough inspections of hotel rooms, offices, homes, vehicles and other areas. It combines broadband RF detection from 1 MHz to 12 GHz with magnetic detection, allowing it to locate both active wireless transmitters and magnetically attached devices. It is designed to detect RF transmissions originating from hidden wireless cameras, audio bugs, GPS trackers, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices, as well as other radio-frequency sources. The VS80 uses two separate RF antennas. The broadband ANT1 covers the 1 MHz – 12 GHz range, while ANT2 operates within the narrower 2.44 – 5.39 GHz band and helps isolate Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signals in environments with high levels of RF interference. The system also includes a flexible magnetic probe, particularly suitable for locating magnetically attached GPS trackers. 20 sensitivity levels and an LED signal strength indicator help accurately pinpoint the source. The rechargeable 2000 mAh battery provides up to 20 hours of continuous operation, making the detector suitable for more extensive security inspections.

Broadband RF Detection from 1 MHz to 12 GHz
The core function of the Professional Bug Hunter VS80 is broadband RF detection. The main ANT1 antenna operates within the 1 MHz to 12 GHz frequency range and is designed for comprehensive scanning of the radio-frequency spectrum in the inspected area. According to the manufacturer, the detector can identify both analog and digital RF transmissions, including audio and video transmissions, and offers high sensitivity to 2G to 5G mobile signals as well as wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The front of the detector features a vertical LED signal strength indicator ranging from –60 dBm to +10 dBm. As the detector approaches an active transmitter, the indicated signal strength gradually increases. Once the user-defined threshold is exceeded, the alarm is activated. This makes it possible not only to detect the presence of an RF signal but also to determine its source more accurately by moving the detector and adjusting its sensitivity.
For the most accurate results, the manufacturer recommends identifying and switching off known wireless sources in the room before beginning an inspection, such as Wi-Fi routers, Bluetooth devices, wireless cameras or smart devices. Reducing normal RF interference makes it easier to identify an unknown signal source.
Two RF Antennas for Broad Detection and More Precise Searching
An important feature of the VS80 is its system of two separate RF antennas, ANT1 and ANT2. Each antenna is designed for a different type of inspection, and the user can easily switch between them using a button on the device.
ANT1 is a broadband antenna with a frequency range of 1 MHz – 12 GHz. The manufacturer recommends using it as the primary antenna when starting an inspection because it covers the widest frequency spectrum and allows different types of RF sources to be detected.
ANT2 operates within the narrower 2.44 – 5.39 GHz frequency range. It is intended primarily for environments with a high level of common Wi-Fi and Bluetooth communication. By narrowing the monitored frequency range, it helps distinguish a specific source from surrounding RF interference and can make it easier to locate a wireless Wi-Fi camera or Bluetooth device.
During an inspection, ANT1 can therefore be used first to scan the broad frequency spectrum. If the detected signal is unclear or heavily affected by interference, the user can switch to ANT2 and inspect the suspicious area in greater detail.
Magnetic Detection of GPS Trackers
The Professional Bug Hunter VS80 does not rely solely on RF signals. It also features a separate magnetic detection mode that uses a flexible magnetic probe. This function is particularly useful when inspecting vehicles for magnetically attached GPS trackers.
Some GPS trackers do not transmit continuously and communicate only at short intervals. When they are not transmitting, their RF signal may not be detectable. Magnetic scanning provides an additional inspection method because it can respond to a magnetic field even when the device is not actively transmitting an RF signal. For this reason, the manufacturer recommends magnetic detection as a complementary method when performing an RF inspection of a vehicle.
The flexible probe connects to a dedicated port, and magnetic mode is activated using the MAG/RF button. When inspecting a vehicle, the probe can be moved along the undercarriage, wheel arches, areas beneath the seats, interior panels and other locations where a GPS tracker could potentially be concealed. The manufacturer recommends keeping the probe approximately 0–5 cm from the inspected surface. An increase in the indicated intensity or a continuous alarm may indicate a localized magnetic field source.
Adjustable Sensitivity and Precise Signal Source Localization
Simply detecting an RF signal is not always enough – during a security inspection, it is important to determine as precisely as possible where the signal originates. The VS80 therefore features a rotary control with 20 sensitivity levels.
Turning the control clockwise increases sensitivity, allowing the device to respond to weaker or more distant RF signals. Turning it in the opposite direction reduces sensitivity and narrows the detection area.
In practice, once a stronger signal has been detected, you can gradually reduce the sensitivity while moving closer to the suspected source. If the alarm is triggered again, the sensitivity can be reduced further and the search continued. Repeating this process gradually narrows the detection area until the signal source can be localized within a significantly smaller area.
The detector offers both an audible alarm and a Silent Mute mode. In Silent Mute mode, the audible alert remains disabled while the LED signal strength indicator stays active. This mode is useful, for example, when discreetly inspecting a hotel room, office or other area where you do not want to use an audible alarm.
Up to 20 Hours of Battery Life and USB-C Charging
The Professional Bug Hunter VS80 is equipped with a built-in rechargeable 2000 mAh, 3.7 V Li-Ion battery. According to the manufacturer, a single charge provides up to 20 hours of continuous operation, allowing more extensive inspections to be carried out without frequent recharging.
The battery is charged via a USB Type-C connector. A full charge of a depleted battery takes approximately 4 hours. A 5 V USB charger or power bank can be used for charging. A separate BATT indicator provides information about battery status and charging progress.
The detector features a durable metal housing, weighs 220 g and has compact dimensions. The controls are designed so that all essential functions are directly accessible via the buttons and rotary control on the device.
